American Heart Month is Almost Over, Time for A Pop Quiz!

February Love and Heart Health Month is drawing to an end, but loving yourself and protecting your heart does not end when the calendar flips.

This is your sign to March into March with intention, because the healthiest version of you isn’t built in one month. It’s built in small choices that compound.

Let’s do a quick check-in:

What change will you carry into March? Need Help? We are here to partner with you. Contact us Today.

What changed for you this month?

Did you sleep more?

Move more?

Try a fast?

Drink more water?

Check your blood pressure?

Schedule that visit you’ve been putting off?

If the answer is “some of it” or “none of it yet,” you’re still on time.

Because this weekly connection isn’t here to be inspirational wallpaper.

It’s a call to action.

Now pick ONE thing you changed this month to carry into March.

One. Consistency beats intensity every time.

Let’s see where we stand. Quiz Time!

Which Heart Type Are You?

Take 20 seconds and pick the one that sounds most like you. If more than one option fits, choose the one causing the most trouble at the moment.

If you are a new patient, set your appointment today. We can't wait to meet you.

1. The Busy Bee

  • Your life is moving fast, and so is your heart rate.

  • Your days are packed, you run on caffeine and deadlines.

  • Meals are optional, and “later” is your favorite health plan.

  • You’re handling everything, but your body is sending signals: headaches, stress, tight chest, fatigue.

2. The Night Owl

  • You’re tired, but sleep is not cooperating.

  • You can’t fall asleep, or you wake up at 2 to 4 a.m.

  • You push through the day, then crash hard.

  • You snore, wake up tired, or need naps to function.

3. The Salty Sailor

  • You love flavor, heavy on the flavor.

  • Salty snacks, takeout, and convenience foods show up often.

  • You get puffy or swollen, thirsty, or your blood pressure runs high when you check it.

  • “Healthy eating” feels bland, expensive, or unrealistic.

Whichever one you choose, it’s good. That’s your starting line.

Pick your Heart Type and commit to this challenge for 30 days.

The Spring Valley 30 Day Heart Health Glow Up Challenge is one the whole family can do.

One small win a day.

Not perfection.

Just progress.

And you’re not only doing this for you. You’re doing it because our children and grandchildren learn health from what we model, how we manage stress, what we normalize, and what we prioritize.

Now, let’s make the 30 Day IWC Primary Care Glow Up Challenge fit your life.

3 Step Plan for Your Heart Type!

If you are The Busy Bee. (Stress and Time Scarcity)

  1. Blood pressure check, and one appointment on the calendar, don’t wing it.

  2. Take a ten-minute walk “meeting with yourself” three to four times per week.

  3. Caffeine cutoff, pick a time, no caffeine after 2 p.m., is a solid start.

Are you The Night Owl? (Sleep Drives Everything)

  1. Set a sleep window, same 60 to 90 minute range nightly.

  2. Screen exit ramp, phone down 10 minutes earlier each week.

  3. Snoring and daytime fatigue, get checked; it matters.

Salty Sailor, perhaps? (Sodium & Blood Pressure)

  1. Swap one salty item a day, chips for popcorn or nuts, fast food for a bowl-based meal.

  2. Add potassium foods, such as bananas, beans, leafy greens, and sweet potatoes.

  3. Hydrate and check blood pressure; salt often shows up in pressure and swelling.

March into March, don’t delay!

February is closing out, and if you started even one healthier habit, protect it.

If you haven’t started yet, this is your fresh start.

If you’ve been meaning to schedule your wellness visit, don’t delay. High blood pressure, sleep issues, fatigue, stress, and pain don’t usually fix themselves; they usually get quieter.

At IWC Primary Care in Spring Valley, we’ll help you check your numbers, review screenings, and build a plan that fits your real life. Schedule your preventive care or annual physical with IWC Primary Care in Spring Valley, and let’s map your path to wellness.

"Do I qualify for care management, chronic condition support? Are there wellness rewards with my plan?"

Before you go, take one proactive step that could unlock more support at no extra cost: call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask, “Do I qualify for any heart health programs like disease management, case management, health coaching, or a home blood pressure monitoring program?” For example, if you have Medicare Advantage, ask, “Do I qualify for care management, chronic condition support, or any plan benefits for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or heart disease, and are there wellness rewards for completing my annual physical?” Many plans offer these benefits, but patients often do not realize they exist until they ask, and it is an easy way to make sure you are getting the care and support you are already paying for.
